Tribal Governance Management and Leadership
Dr. Proudfit is developing for the California State University at San Bernardino Public Administration Department a Tribal Governance Management and Leadership (TGML) program. This program is directed by Dr. Joely Proudfit, Associate Professor of Public Administration.
This program offers a survey of American Indian tribal government and subjects related to tribal government including the areas of leadership, tribal politics, intergovernmental relations and tribal enterprises.
This program is designed for public and tribal agency officials who want to develop a greater understanding and awareness of the unique legal relationship the U.S. government has with federally recognized Indian tribes. This program will examine the historical and legal underpinnings of the government-to-government relationship between the U.S., state & local government has with Indian tribes. This program is designed to assist public officials in building a more effective day-to-day working relationship with federally recognized Indian tribes and Indian communities and will provide practical tips and tools for bridging communication gaps and strengthening cooperative agreements/relationships between tribal, federal, state and local officials/governments.
